I looked to a Korean Western called The Good, The Bad, The Weird (2008), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), The Bad Batch (2016), Mad Max Fury Road (2015), The Avengers (2012), Guardians of The Galaxy (2014), and Missy Elliott music video clips like The Rain for inspiration in character development, production design, and cinematography. Hoping I couldn’t go wrong with that, letting my imagination run wild allowed me to develop the concept.Īs part of the Concept Development stage, writing the treatment and story boarding it flowed relatively well, due to knowing the message I wanted to convey to my audience quite early in its development. What I knew from the beginning though was that I wanted to marry things that I loved and was most passionate about – short film narrative, a western pastiche, post-apocalyptic themes, hip hop, soul, and street dance. Hoping to get a green light for my Wasteland music video, I had so much to do in so little time during the Concept Development stage.
